On June 20th, 2020, at approximately 7:37 PM, Ottumwa Police officers responded to a report of a rollover accident near the intersection of Highway 34 and Venture Way. Joshua Gerald Gutcher, age 44, of Albia, Iowa, was traveling westbound on Highway 34 when he lost control of the vehicle he was driving. Gutcher’s vehicle crossed the eastbound lanes and entered the south ditch where the vehicle subsequently rolled over. Gutcher was ejected from the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Ottumwa Police Department was assisted at the scene of the accident by the Ottumwa Fire Department, Iowa State Patrol, and ORMICS.
