Ottumwa Public Library Reopens to the Public

posted May 3, 2021

Dear Ottumwa Public Library Patrons,

We are excited to announce that starting tomorrow, Tuesday, May 4th, we will be opening our doors!  No appointments needed.  We are happy to see that Wapello County’s case numbers have remained low while more and more are getting vaccinated.  Here are the details:

·       You will be asked to wear a mask in the library. Even if you have been vaccinated masks are required. If you do not have one, we will provide you with a disposable one.

·       The library will be open for computer usage, printing, browsing and checking out materials.

·       Our meeting room will not be reopened for reservations yet, but the genealogy room will be available for research.  There will not be children’s programming inside, but we will be doing outdoor programs and story times starting in June.

·       Our hours are Monday-Saturday 9am-5pm.

·       We will continue to offer the curbside services.

·       If you, or a member of your household, are sick or have you been exposed to someone with Covid-19 in the last 2 weeks, we ask that you do not come to the Library. Contact our staff about other options to get materials: 641-682-7563

Finally, we want to say “THANK YOU” to the community of Ottumwa.  You have been patient and supportive as we did our best to make these decisions with the health and safety of our community in mind.  We are so excited to get to see you again.
