Ottumwa Public Library Update

posted September 22, 2020

The Ottumwa Public Library is still maintaining all patron services that we can digitally and through contactless curbside pick-up, but we have not reopened our doors to the public.  Wapello County COVID19 numbers remain at high levels with wide community spread.

These decisions are agonizing for management and our Board of Trustees.  We reevaluate the local situation weekly and the board meets biweekly as needed.  We weigh guidance from local public health officials and multiple sources of public health data in order to determine what is best for our community’s public library.  Our first priority is the health of our patrons, community and staff and we are doing our best to offer every kind of service that we safely can during this time.

Here is a list of some of the services being provided:

·         Curbside pick-up of books, DVDs, and magazines for check out.

·         Mobile printing with curbside pick-up.

·         Free Wi-Fi availability on Library property.

·         Circulation of Mobile internet hotspots.

·         E-books and electronically downloadable audio books via our Bridges service.

·         Online programming for adults through our book clubs.

·         Online programming for children with Allyson’s Music & Movement videos on Facebook.

·         Drive through craft bag give aways for children.

·         Phone and online reference questions answered.

Thank you for your continued patience, support and understanding.
