Police Respond to Shooting Incidents

On Friday, April 24, at approximately 10:30 p.m., Ottumwa Police responded to 308 W. 6th Street on a report of someone shooting a gun at this residence.  Officers arrived and located several empty rifle casings outside of the residence and bullet holes in the upper portion of the residence.  Police determined that an unknown person shot several rounds of ammunition at an apartment occupied by Anilah S. Kindle, age 21, of that address.   A person who was visiting the residence, identified as Davion Jerrell Richard, age 18, of 1600 Stellar, Ottumwa, received a minor injury to his wrist as a result of the shooting. 

While officers were investigating the shooting on 6th Street, Ottumwa Police were notified that another person had called police to report a second incident involving a firearm had taken place.  The second shooting incident was reported by Matthew Mark Blew, age 26, and took place at 2421 Northgate, Apt. 9, in Ottumwa, at 11:55 p.m.  Blew reported during this incident that a handgun was discharged into the ceiling of his apartment. No injuries were reported in this incident. 

Police have determined these two shootings are not connected.
